LEGAL CLERK
Position: Alianza is seeking to hire a full-time Legal Clerk to support the organization’s mission and goals.
Compensation: Pay and benefits depend on experience and skills. The benefits include paid holidays, paid sick days, paid personal days, paid vacation days, and mileage reimbursement for job-related travel. Salary range of $27,000 to $35,000 per year.
Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Immigration Services
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week
Location: 600 Spring Hill Ring Road, Suite 107, West Dundee, IL 60118
Background: Alianza was established in 2012 as a community resource center. We became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2015 to expand services to the community. In 2018, we became accredited by the Department of Justice (DOJ), allowing us to assist/represent people in immigration proceedings. In addition, DOJ Accreditation allowed us to work with partnering organizations.
Responsibilities:

Daily review of the organization information e-mail and case management system and update it,
-
Assigning potential cases to the appropriate staff for follow-ups,
-
Conduct by telephone or in-person client interviews and intakes, prepare letters and documents,
-
Perform office work that includes creating materials, doing research, communicating with clients, entering information in excel sheets, and performing other clerical and administrative assistance tasks,
-
Maintain regular contact with clients,
-
Provide oral and written Spanish/English translation and interpretations as needed,

Submit daily reports,
-
Assist as necessary with office duties such as data entering, typing, photocopying, etc.,

Additional tasks as directed by the Director of Immigration Services
Qualifications:

Education: High School or Higher

Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish

Basic Computer Literacy Skills

Position: Alianza is seeking to hire a full-time Paralegal to support the organization’s mission and goals. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to become a DOJ Accredited Representative to practice immigration law under the supervision of the Director of Immigration Services.
Compensation: Pay and benefits depend on experience and skills. The benefits include paid holidays, sick days, personal days, paid vacation days, and mileage reimbursement for job-related travel. Salary range of $35,000 to $40,000 per year.
Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, documents, and other data,

Keeping the law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumes,

Qualifications:

Certification in Paralegal Studies or Associate’s Degree,

A minimum experience of one year in a paralegal role,

Investigative mind and strong research skills,

Working knowledge of legal database software,

Experience in preparing legal reports,

Excellent communication and time management skills,

Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish,

Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
